Quick answers
How is home loan EMI calculated?
Home loan EMI is calculated from loan amount, monthly interest rate, and tenure. In this calculator, loan amount is property value minus down payment.
What is loan-to-value in a home loan?
Loan-to-value, or LTV, compares the loan amount with the property value. For example, a Rs 60 lakh loan on a Rs 75 lakh property has an 80% LTV.
Does a higher down payment reduce EMI?
Yes. A higher down payment reduces the loan amount, which usually reduces EMI and total interest, assuming the same interest rate and tenure.
How does annual prepayment help a home loan?
Annual prepayment reduces outstanding principal. If EMI stays the same, more future EMI goes toward principal and total interest can reduce.
Does the home loan calculator include stamp duty or tax benefit?
No. It focuses on EMI, loan amount, LTV, repayment schedule, and prepayment estimate. Stamp duty, registration, tax benefit, insurance, and lender rules are not included.
