Quick answers
How much EMI can I afford from salary?
A common estimate starts from monthly in-hand income, subtracts existing obligations, and applies an affordable EMI percentage.
Do existing EMIs affect affordability?
Yes. Existing EMIs reduce the room available for a new loan, so affordable EMI and estimated loan amount may be lower.
Is EMI affordability the same as bank eligibility?
No. Banks may also check credit score, age, employer profile, documents, co-applicant income, and internal policy.
Should I use gross salary or in-hand salary?
In-hand salary is usually better for personal affordability because it reflects monthly cash flow after salary deductions.
