Quick answers
How is employee PF calculated?
Employee PF is commonly estimated as 12% of PF wage. PF wage can be capped, based on full basic salary, or entered as a custom amount depending on employer policy.
What is capped PF in India?
Capped PF usually means PF is calculated on a wage ceiling such as Rs 15,000 per month instead of the full basic salary.
What is the difference between employer EPF and EPS?
A part of employer contribution may go to EPS, while the remaining employer share goes to EPF. EPS is shown separately and is not the same as EPF balance.
Does PF reduce in-hand salary?
Employee PF deduction reduces monthly in-hand salary. Employer PF can also be part of CTC but is usually not paid as monthly take-home salary.
Can PF policy differ by company?
Yes. Payroll treatment can vary based on wage definition, statutory applicability, employer policy, and whether PF is capped, full-basic, or custom.
